MEETING LOCATION

The Frederick Apple Core meets the second Saturday of each month from 10 AM to Noon at the Walkersville United Methodist Church. Users of Apple products (Macintosh, iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc.) are invited to attend. Club business, new developments, as well as user problems and solutions will be discussed. In addition to our general meetings, we have special events, including an annual “freecycle” event.

Our meetings are open to the public and we welcome anyone interested in attending.

Our agenda includes taking a look at traveling with technology. Smartphones usually make the trip; smart watches travel well; then there is the larger tech like tablets and laptops. Ever need a printer while traveling? Do you find yourself needing a file on your desktop computer that did not make the trip?

The holidays are coming and whether you plan a simple overnight visit, long weekend, a week in the sun or fun, or a long term international travel, getting our tech ready to go differs greatly.

If you have too many passwords to keep track of do you pack a paper list? Do you dazzle yourself with a Notes document listing those critical IDs and passwords? Perhaps you are using Apple’s Passwords? Passkeys anyone?

Passkeys are a safe way to access accounts without a password thanks to cryptographic technology connected to your specific device (like a smartphone or tablet). If you have created a passkey, come and share your experience when registering your account on an app for the first time.
