The Frederick Apple Core meets the second Saturday of each month from 10 AM to Noon at the Walkersville United Methodist Church. Users of Apple products (Macintosh, iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc.) are invited to attend. Club business, new developments, as well as user problems and solutions will be discussed. In addition to our general meetings, we have special events, including a swap meet and picnic  held with the Cumberland Valley Apple Users Group, and an annual “freecycle” event.

The Walkersville United Methodist Church is located at 22 Main St. in Walkersville, MD. For directions, CLICK HERE.

Our meetings are open to the public and we welcome anyone interested in attending.

March 9, 2019

Our focus at the meeting will be to enjoy sharing items no longer wanted or needed during our Annual Freecycle Meeting. Bring those items large or small, just be prepared to remove any items no one claims when you depart Georgetown Hall. Please be prepared to give a 30-second commercial about your item.

Also, we have a member who has agreed to have us open up their MacBook Pro to demonstrate how this is done for those who still have a user upgradeable MacBook. We will take a look at upgrading RAM, replacing the battery, and replacing the hard drive with an SSD. I will need a volunteer to use their iPhone to video this activity and send it via AirPlay to the projector so everyone can see. This MacBook also has a disk stuck in the Optical Drive and we will attempt to eject without resorting to physical touching!

Finally we will take a look at how to Clear Space on an iPad or iPhone running iOS 12. This can be especially useful if you have a 16GB iPhone and are running out of space!

There is always a Q&A section to the meeting where you can bring your questions.
